In the reading, the author claims that there are some archaeological that believe the European silver coin which public believe that as an original in the United States, is fake by pointing out 3 reasons of support, However, finding all the ideas questionable and implausible, the lecturer totally repudiate this claim and presents some evidence to the contrary.
At first, the author argues that there is a great distance between Norse settlement in Canada and Europe is too far away and it's about 1000 km thus it seems that this transport didn't happen. Conversely, the lecturer brings up the idea that many other objects found by transportation in this distance and it can be one of them.
In addition, the reading passage holds the view that there are no other coins and it shows that the Norse didn't bring any silver coins. On the other hand, the lecturer disputes this point by clarifying the fact that it does not necessarily mean that this coin didn't transport to North America and it can just because of packing others but forgot to do it for this one.
Finally, the author asserts that the Norse knew that there isn't any application of this coin in North America as the last point for supporting the fake coin. The lecturer, though, dismisses it by elucidating that by this knowledge, there was some chance for using the coin as a neckless or other kinds of jewelry in North America. That being said that it can be transported for this kind of use.
