The reading claims that there efforts to persuade doctors to adopt electronic databases rather than paper. However, the lecture disagrees with it.
Firstly, the reading claims that this way can reduce the costs. However, the lecture disagrees with this idea. This is not a good way for saving the costs, because the doctors still need to save those paper for the back up. If they lost the data, they still have something to look at it. So they also need to pay those bill for storing those paper.
Secondly, the reading claims that they think it is a way to prevent errors. Some doctors have the poor hand writting which is hard to identify. However, the lecture disagrees with this idea, because the doctors will still use the paper to take notes. The people who put the data in the computer are staffs. Also the staffs won't be 100% sure about the hand writting, they might accidently put the errors on the data.
Thirdly, the reading claims that it is a good way aid research. However, the lecture disagrees about it. Nowadays the American government have been sit a law called private law. So the patients have their own right to block their treatment. It is hard for the doctors to access to those patients things. They also need those permission from patients, which is quite complex.
