Essay topics

Both the reading and lecture discuss methods can be used to save frog populations from extination and being decreased.
The reading introduces the idea of avoiding pesticides to be used by farmers in the areas close to frog populations could be a way to protect frogs from negative effects caused by pesticides. However, the professor refutes this point by explainig that reducing the use of pesticides near to agriculture lands is not economic or fare. He says that it will be hard for farmers who have their farmlands near to frogs population to stay competitive to other farmers who are away from them. prohibiting the use of the pestisides has sever disadvantages to farmes who close to them, because of the loss and damage of their farm crops.
Second according to the reading frog populatios can be saved by using antifungal medicatios. Nevertheless, the lecture contends this idea by mentioning that the treatment needs to be applied to each individual forg, which is difficult to be provided to a large scale. In addition the treatment does not prevent the off spring, which means that it needs to be applied again and again to each generation. The treatment method is complicated and expensive as the lecturer states.
Third, The article claims that preventing the too much water use and improvement at lakes and marshes can be a method to give frogs chance to retreat. On the other hand, the listening opposes this notion by avering that the real cause of the decrease on the frogs natural habitats is that the global warming, not the human activites as mentioned on the reading. As a result avoidig development and human activities near to water, unlikely to protect frogs from the effect of the global warming.
Therefore, the professor questions the ideas introducd in the reading.
