The reading passage explains that humpback whales use stars for navigation and find their way for migrate.it brings three reasons for support.in contrast the professor states that reasons which are brought in the passage for supporting this idea aren't convinced and rejects each reason by provide his own idea.

First the passage claims that the humpback whales use stars because they are intelligence. However the professor rejects this by saying that there are other animals like some kinds of birds which don't have high intelligence but use stars for their navigation. He exemplifies Dox , a bird has average intelligence but uses stars to navigate because they are born with this intrinsic ability.

Second the passage stays that humpback whales use straight line in order to find their ways. The professor opposes it and he says that the cause of why they move one a straight line is because of earth's magnetite filed. Whales have magnetite body which when they are in a magnetite field they orient in to that field. therefore magnetite field of Earth is external force which orient them to move in a straight line.

Third the passage says that this kind of whales use some unusual behavior, like bring their head out of the water to find the stars to navigate. This behavior known as Spy-hoppy. the professor in contrast explain that not only this whales but also shark do this behavior too. but they don't use it for navigation they use it for finding animals want to hunt. Thus it wouldn't be an acceptable reason for why humpback whales use stars to navigate.
