TPO-49 - Integrated Writing Task Like many creatures, humpback whales migrate long distances for feeding and mating purposes. How animals manage to migrate long distances is often puzzling. In the case of humpback whales, we may have found the answer: the

The author and the passage both talks about the humpback whales. The author in the passage mention that humpback whales migrating for long distance for feeding and mating process may be navigating by the stars and provide the three supporting reason about these statement. However, the professor says that using stars for migrating and mating purposes is quiet fascinating but the provided evidence from the passage is not convincing and he totally refutes all the claim made by author and provide the three reason.

First, In the passage, the author explains that whales are intelligent enough to use the star to navigate. But, the professor rebuts the claim by saying that there is no real connection between animal ability to use star for navigation. According to him, other animal can do it like example, dog is only a average intelligent animal which is also use the star for navigate. The real fact is animal can able to use star which is came from their instinct by born. Whales may be intelligent but there is no significant connection between it.
Second, the author says that whales can migrate from one place to another in straight line which no one can do it. And he connect this by saying only because whale use star to do it. On the other hand, the professors totally disagree with the statement made by author and said most of the animal are able to use the straight line while migrating. They can do it by using the external force like earth magnetic field. Animal have a bio magnetic force and which is very sensitive to earth magnetic field. Animal like whale use earth magnetic field to migrate rather than star.

Third, humpback has a one specific behavior which is rare in other animal known as spy hopping and the function of spy hooping is that providing the information to navigate. And the professor refutes the author claim by saying that other animal like shark can floating straight up for minutes at a time but not for migrate or star but to hunt . Whale can float during the day time where no star can see in the sky so it is just a pure speculation nothing more than that.
