The article states that humpback whales are able to migrate longer distances for feeding and mating purposes only possible by using the stars to navigate and provides three reasons of support. However, the professor explains that it is interesting to listen about humpback use star while navigating but there is no any convincing evidence to trust about it and refutes each of the authors's reasons.
First, the reading claims that humpback whales are more intelligent among comparison to other animal and able to use the stars to navigate. The professor refutes this point by saying that there is no real connection between the ability to use star and intelligence. He states that a duck which is taken as an average intelligent bird also use the star because of their instinct power which is cam from by birth. Furthermore, he points out there is no fact between the connection of intelligence and using star to navigate.
Second, the article posits that only humpback migrates in straight line and it is only possible because they are guiding by some external forces. The professor says that it is true that animal are able to it because of their external forces but the fact of external forces is different than author. According to the professor, each animal has bio-magnetide which is sensitive to each magnetic field and all we know earth have electromagnetic field. The reason behind the navigating is because of internal bio-magnetide to sense the earth magnetic field rather than star.
Third, the reading says that humpback whales can float straight up for a minutes at a time because of spy-hopping. The professor opposes this point by explaining that other animal like shark has also spy-hooping behavior but they did not migrate or looking stars actually they did this to hunt a prey. Moreover, whales floating also in day time where stars are not seen so it is only pure speculation and no connection between them.
