The author contends that a species of fungus can limit the reproducing ability of cheatgrass. In contrast, the lecturer's stance is that fungus may not be effective for spreading cheatgrass in North America. He notes that the cheatgrass and this species of fungus already lived together for thousands of years in where they came from, and the cheatgrass has developed the ability of resistance. This fungus is only able to hurt the cheatgrass that is sick and weak.
