The lecture and the reading both discuss the discovery of copper vessels. While the reading states that the copper vessels are not used to conduct electricity, and enumerates three reasons of support, the lecture refutes. It claims that the reasons mentioned in the reading are not convincing.

First of all, the reading argues that if the batteries were used to conduct electricity, there should be metals wires found near the area of discovery. But, there is no evidence of any wires. Yet, the lecture refutes this point by saying that the vessels were found by local people. They were not trained well to reserve or recognize any other materials found near the vessels. May be they found the wires but they thought that they are not important.

In addition, the reading states that the copper vessels look exactly like the copper used for holding the scrolls. The fact that there were no scrolls found, means that the scrolls disintegrate by time. But, the lecture counter this point saying that in the beginning the copper vessels was used to preserve the scrolls, however by adding iron and liquid to the vessels they could conduct electricity. The copper vessels uses were adapted to another purpose.

Lastly, the reading passage makes the argument that ancient people were not relied on electricity on any of their devices. But, the lecture opposes this point by saying that the copper vessels were doing some mild or tingling sensation, so people use them as a magical power. Furthermore, copper vessels were used to heal pain and relive ach. Some ancient doctor were using them for that purpose.
