familiarization with this field can teach students a lot of things in university. While some believe that history courses should be taught to all students despite their concentration, others think this is not required. I am in a total agreement with the first group, and I will provide my reasons in bellow paragraphs.
Firstly, history can prevent us from repeating the same mistakes made by our ancestors. In fact, most of the events including scarce, failures, and diseases as well as abundance, victories and conquests, and alleviation from diseases have been recorded by scripts since the moment humans learned how to write. People can gain general experience from their previous generations, the experience which is not related to only a specific portion in the society. For example, wars have been recorded as an important event for all humans as a catastrophic happening for both the winner and loser because both sides have suffered from dozens of innocent humans killed in battles. Therefore, despite the fact that how much a country is powerful, it's leaders always stay away from starting a new war. Thus, as many countries are scaping from being in a war, students can learn several general things, related to humankind, from history to obstacle repetition of the mistakes of their fathers.
Secondly, by studying history, people can gather information about their culture and literature which is necessary for humankind's success. To be more specific, it does not matter what job somebody has, knowing about the culture and literature is mandatory in any specific field. Being well-known in the field of history can push people through success in some cases. As an example, consider two governmental job seekers being interviewed by a supervisor. In fact, governmental tasks are required to applicants have basic knowledge of that country’s history; one of the most frequent questions about jobs is " what do you think about your country?" I am sure that only the applicant can answer this question promptly who is rich in the history of his/ her country. Thus, as it may happen in an interview, people need to explain information about their history and culture to acquire a proper position, not being important that it is occupational or not, in their society. In this way, it is necessary to learn history besides the professional courses we learn from university.
In conclusion, I think it is important to take history courses for all students in university. Not only can it prevent them from repeating previous generation's mistakes, but also learn them useful things about their culture and literature.
