The passage and the lecture both deal with capability of flying in Pterosaurs which lived in the vicinity of dinasaurs. While the passage offers several arguments for Pterosaurs' disability of flying, the lecture is at odds with these reasons. The related disparities will be explored in the following paragraphs.
First, the text points out that powered flight is a kind of activity which significant energy is needed. Moreover, this giant animal was cold-blooded which represented slow metabolism and they were unable to produce considerable energy. The lecturer, on the other hand, rebuts this statement by saying that this animal had dense and hair-like covers which were look alike to fur. This structure is a typical of warm-blooded animal which need to sustain their high body temperature when the external condition is cold and chill. Thus, Pterosaurs was similar to warm-blooded and they would have been able to supply enough energy for flying.
Secondly, the reading passage states that those animals who have light weight, are able to fly and being extremely heavy and humongous do not allow Pterosaurs to flap their wings. The professor opposes this idea by asserting that they have a special anatomic characteristic which helped them to fly. Actually, Pterosaurs' bone had hollow instead of being solid and this feature had given animal a chance to keep their weight low. So, they would have had ability to flap their wings in air.
Thirdly, the passage contends that those animals who can fly, have the power of taking off from the field such as birds. The structure of fossilized bone has displayed that this gigantic reptile had not vigorous and all-powerful muscles so they could not have been able to fly. On the contrary, the lecturer, refutes this opinion by pointing out that there is difference between birds and this reptile. Actually, birds use two hind legs for walking on the ground whereas Pterosaurs have been able to use four legs. So, they had a capability of pushing off the grounds and launch themselves into the air
