There is a strange phenomena taking place in the moon called TLP. The passage describe there theories that can explain why the TLP generated, that is can be generated by observation error, by meteor impact, and by rocks emitting its lights. However, the professor totally refuses the author's view, he thinks none of them can explain the TLP well.
The first theory is that the TLP is not really happened, and it is because of the error caused by observation. However, it can not explain why the TLP usually happen in two specifically location. If it is an error of observation, it should just happened in random area in the lunar. In fact, there is no reporting about the random happening in the moon.
The second theory is that TLP is generated by the meteor impact, which can cause explosion and flash of light to be observed. Yet, it can not generate the light so long. A meteor impaction can cause light that only last for one second, but the TLP can lasts up to 20 minutes. If it is generated by the impaction, there should be a meteor shower. The fact is there is no report about any meteor shower in the lunar surface.
The third theory is that the rocks emit their own light, causing such flash. And yet, it should not be so strong. The moon shine just because it reflect the sunshine because the sunshine is brighter than the rock's light. The rock's light is like the candle that be focused by a spotlight when it compared with the sunshine.
