The world’s forests are facing increasing pressure which, if left unchecked, will threaten the health of many industries, economies, nations, and lives. The development of an international fund to help developing countries implement useful conservation

Based on the given materials, the article as well as the lecture discusse the diforestation problem and a new raised fund for protecting these areas. The author proposes some of the possible ways to implement such fund in order to protect forests from heavt pressure of industery. That being sad, the lecturer provides several ideas to repudiate this claim.

Initially, it is alleged in thereading that this money can be used for expansion of agriculture which is the most important approach. However the author asserts that the agricultural land themselves are one of the reasons for deforestation. He alludes to the fact that farmers use pesticides an nutrilizers to grow more in order to feed the growing population. These toxics and chemicals are eventulay washed away by run of water and as a results contribute to deforestation. So it is not a good idea to expand farming lands.

Second, the writer proclaims that the investment of this money to developing the economy of villages located in forest can help in this manner. Yet again the speaker underscores that to do so the money should be handed to forest owners which are governments so consequently there is no way to make sure a government spend this money for the villagers. Also if a government invest the money, There is no way to know if this money is invested affectively.

The final point of contention between the reading and listening passages is the use of the fund for estabilishing protected areas for saving biodiversity. On the other hand, The lecturer points out that these areas themselves will become a source for exploiting them and extracting materials that humans realy on. This sows that this approach is not appropriate.
