The diagram below shows how to recycle organic waste to produce fertiliser (compost). Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.
The flowchart illustrates the recycling process of organic waste to produce furtilizer.
Overall, there are total 5 steps in this process that starts with adding some type of waste to the plastic container and ends with manufacturing compost for gardening.
A 2-cubic-meter plastic container with six holes - six at each side - is used for containing the compost. Six holes of this bottle are utilised as vents allowing circulation of air in and out of the container. At step 2, people add 30cm of waste to the plastic bottom with 3 layers: the bottom is food, the middle is grass, and the top is newspaper. Nitrogen and hot water are subsequently poured into the mixture.
The mouth of container is sealed shut by a cover before heating the jar to let vapor out. After 6 months, the mixture of waste completely converts into compost which is a useful furtilizer for gardening.
