TECHNOLOGY: A BARRIER OR A GATEWAY TO CREATIVE IMAGINATION?
Every day dozens of articles pop up in social media regarding technology where some represent technology as a barrier to creative imagination and some portray it as a gateway to creative imagination. At first, let us know what do we mean by creative imagination. Creativity is defined as the use of imagination or original ideas to create something and Imagination is the capacity to produce images, ideas and sensations in the mind without any immediate input of the senses. Therefore, creative imagination can be outlined to create something original with the help of imagination. Technology is obviously supporting creative imagination in the fields of science, economics and many more but at the same time, it is also creating a barrier to the creative imagination in numerous fields including arts and literature.
Technology is mere a tool and the outcome of using this tool depends upon how we use it to our benefit. Misuse or improper use of it may block our imagination where Imagination is the door to possibilities. It is where creativity, ingenuity, and thinking outside the box begin for human development. In Short, Technology does not quell creative imagination, in fact, there is a great deal of evidence that suggests that technology enhances it. The world our predecessors could not even imagine is the world where we all are living at present due to the integration of creative imagination and technology.
