Over the past hundreds of years, some young people follow the guidance from seniors to help them making crucial decisions in various areas. Although it seems like that the older people are more experienced in social interaction and how to have a successful life; the young generation, who are born and raised in different backgrounds, has many new ideas and skills to teach seniors. My view is based on the ever-changing technologies and the values of society reasons.
Comparing to the past decades, technology has been changed our daily life dramatically. The real-time video phone calls and online messages allow people who live in different countries or cities can hold the meeting without any tiring commutation. For instance, my grandpa, who already 92-year-old, he wanted to visit his friend who was suffering from the cancer. However, both of them have difficulties in walking and other physical illness. As a result, we used real-time video phone call and created a chance for them to meet each other. In addition, the emergence of social media is also a convenient platform to let people share their pivotal life moments through pictures with friends immediately. Hence, seniors could learn these new technical gadgets from young people and definitely get benefits from it to improve their lives.
Values of society, a successful person should work in a famous company, buy a house and get married with a mate who is well-educated or from wealthy family-this is the standard success pattern in the past. Nowadays, our society is more accepted about various views, such as encourage individuals to embrace their uniqueness and find their callings rather than earning a big amount of money, the egalitarian in wages of man and woman, and the marriage rights for different groups. Since these new values are opposite with the traditional culture and expectation, the elders can learn new social varieties from young people.
In sum, young people can teach older people in new technology and bring different point of view to them. The more open-minded the seniors have, the more they can learn from young generation.
