It is often argued that governments should give more budget to railways than to roads. In my opinion, both railways and roads are equally important and governments should spend an equal amount of money on both types of infrastructure.
On one hand, railways provide a greater facility for long distance travel. Also, railways are a lot cheaper to commute than to travel by roads. Furthermore, it costs a lot less to maintain railways and rail infrastructure than roads improvements. Additionally, there is no problem of traffic congestion while travelling by trains.
