The bar chart illustrates the percentage of people who live alone in Great Britain by different ages and both genders in 2004 and 2005. It can be clearly seen from the chart that the proportion of people who live alone was rising with increase of age.
As regards the bar chart, the percentage of women living alone at 70 and over was approximately 59 %, whereas this figure for men was around 28 %. The proportion of alone males and females from 16 up to 24 was just 5 % which is the lowest number of alone people. These figures rose slightly at the ages of 25-44 up to approximately 15 % for males and 9 % for females. It was followed by similar number for men at ages of 45-64 and 65-74, while the proportions for women were progressing through 15 % at 45-64 age groups to about 32 % at 65-74 ages.
In conclusion, living alone was common among women with increase of their ages.
