The passage and the lecture offer two opposing views regarding fourday workweek policy. while the text states that the fourday workweek would increase the productivity of the employees and would increase the profit of the companies, the professor thinks it would increase the unemployment rate and would reduce the quality of living of the employees.

first, the passage states that the profits of the companies would increase by offering a fourday workweek to the employees. However, the professor thinks that the companies would have to spent more if they offer fourday workweek to their emplyees which will cut down the profit. although the passage states that fourday workweek would enable the company to hire more workers to maintain the same amount of work, according to the professor it would cause additional cost because the companies would need to spent money after training new employees and their medical facilites. besides the companies would need more space to accomodate additional staffs and would require to buy more computers for them which would cut down the benefit earned.

Secondly, the professors refutes the idea of the passage which states that the fourday workweek policy would reduce unemployment rates. he thinks the companies would prefer to force the workers to do the same amount of work within the fourday workweek which they used to do within a fiveday workweek and as a result no new job opportunities for the unemployed ones would be created. besides, he states his concern regarding the promotion of the fourday workweek employees and according to him employees which work fivedays in a week would get prefernece while getting promotion.

Finally, the reading gives an idea that fourday workweek would reduce burden from the employees and would give them an opportunoity to enjoy their lives. Contrary to the passage, the professor thinks fourday workweek would make their career unstable. although the passage states that the quality of living would be improved by the new policy, the professor thinks that it would do the opposite as because the employees would be paid lesser amount of money. Editionally, the professors thinks that fourday workweek employees would be the first one who would loose jobs during a recesion time.
