Governments should offer college and university education free of charge to all students

Essay topics:

Governments should offer college and university education free of charge to all students.

Government should offer college and university education free of charge to unprivileged students of the country. However, it is not pragmatic to allow free college and university education to all the students of the country because college and university education is very costly. Hence, I diasgree with the statement for the following reasons.

First of all, it is acceptable to allow diligent and unpriviliged students a free university and college education or to provide them a scholarship to ease their financial difficulties. But, it is not a practicle approach to allow all the students a free college education. If a student come from an affluent family, their parents can afford college and university education. Why should the goverment bear the cost of the education of financially capable students? The government can use such money for development of the country.

Secondly, college and university education is very costly. The lab equipments used in engineering and sciences are costly. To build a lab facility in colleges around the country demands millions of dollars and to build college and university campus is also very costly. Now, if a government of a country spends all those dollars to bulid colleges and university, there are other expenses too to provide education such as maintanance and salaries of staff members. Above that if government of one country makes college and university education free, there might be chances that the government may not left with the money to make other necessary developments in the country. Therefore, the statement is not pragmatic.

Thirdly, if a country is a developing country then it becomes more unpracticle to provide the free college and university education to all the students. Because such cpuntries not even have enough money to provide basic needs such as clean water, roof and food. So, it is not possible for such countries to provide free college and university education to all the students.

In conclusion, the statement fails to account many secanarios and is fundamentally wrong. I agree with the idea that the government of a coutry should provide free college and university educaion to unpriviliged students. But it is not pragmatic approach to provide free college and university education to all the student of the country especially to those who can affoard it easily.
