It is believed that, holistic approach of interdisciplinary field only makes a particular field complete. There are several field of science, applied science, pure science which are either isolated in their own field, while some are interconnected with each other and some are derivative of another field.The statement above posit that, lack of outside field knowledge and experience makes certain field incapable to progress significantly. I am completely consonant with the idea of need of interdisciplinary knowledge, inorder to make certain field more better comparatively, for given three reasons.
To begin with, a field might seems complete from the outside but even the most isolated subject require some nuances of knowledge from other discipline. For an instance, Medical field seems complete on its own, where doctors and patient seems to be two wheels of a profession. But, the reality is more convoluted than what it seems. The medical field needs the help of pharmcologist, a biotechnologist and a lab technician who are not solely under the pure medical field. Thus, inorder to run a proper medical facilities in any hospital or medical institute, different fields technicians are required and play a vital role for successful run of a field.
Secondly, the development of any field without assistance of another field becomes ploddingly slow. Although, it cannot be denied that any field can run itself, but proper development as mentioned in statement, a significant advance, definitely needs mix of knowledge and experience. For an instance, the historian about the history of world were not so clear and were developing the fact about history in a snail's pace, but with the development of anthropologist and anthropology field,the historian have been able to derive many fact about our world history.Further, it is true that historian alone could have derived the fact and chronology of past event, but with the integration of anthropologist, the work progressed exponentially. Thus, it always good to inetgrate specialist and different intellectual minds to have better outcomes.
Moreover, there are several field which has been developing at a very slow pace as it could not be interconnected with other field, making it develop slower than ever. The fact that agriculture production of most of the countries has been developed in a very slow pace, is the result of lack of integration with other discipline. However, the developed countries like US, United kingdom are able to integrate engineering as a agriculture engineering in the field, making its production a leading among the world. The late trend of integration of precision farming, geospatial knowldge, remote sensing and internet of thing (IOT) in agriculture has helped, flourish and advance more than ever.
Of course, some eclectic mind argue that for a development of field, a comprehensive knoweldge within a field is enough. However, these mindset has been proved to be parochial and a major contributer to impede the development process within a field. Thus, the knowledge and experience from diverse background proves to be progressive.
