Some people believe it is often necessary, even desirable, for political leaders to withhold information from the public. Others believe that the public has a right to be fully informed.

Being a public figure it's necessary for political leaders to disclose the information to public. As they have authority and access to many government properties, they are responsible to disclose their activities as well as their personal information.

Many political leaders tent to mislead or hide the their persona information like properties, relationships, criminal cases etc. I's not viable to hide these information from public, as being public figure as well as being leader, people who are voting them must know how liable their leader is and how credible he or she is. So that public can choose the best one, and refrain from electing a criminal. For example in India many politicians have been convicted for illegal assets which were kept hidden from public and when they came into power their properties rife. Once the public came to know abt those illegal properties, public has thrown out those corrupt politicians. So it is necessary for the politicians to disclose their information like properties, criminal cases and many other information which are important to disclose to pupils.

One another important reasoning because of which politicians should disclose their information is they have more power than public to influence others and access the public properties. So if it's withheld that what the leaders are doing there are possibilities of duplicity by the politicians. For example take an example where tender is to be given for the construction of a flyover and if public is being refrained from the actual tender amount and all the expenditure going to occurs during the construction there are chances that politicians can manipulate the tender process and give the tender to their close relatives are to the organization from which they can earn profit. So it's necessary to disclose the information regarding such deal, so that tax payers who are paying taxes can know that how their hard earned money is being used, and can raise raise concern if found any discrepancy.

Moreover, the main reason because of which politicians should disclose is their personal character and early life as if the politicians didn't disclose their personal character and early life there are chances that they may be a criminal and people are not knowing about them. As many cases came in India where politicians came out to be a criminal once they got elected, it was disclosed. So they should disclose these information.

However, this is not always the cases, politicians might hide the information which is either their personal information and it has nothing to do with public like how the relationship going on with his or her partner, what their kids are doing that too if it's not the matter of the society, and their personal security related information, they can hide or if the information is regarding security of nation or public they can hide the information as it might lead to discloser of information to enemy. So there must be some exceptions where politicians can hide the information.

By citing all the reasonings it's evident that politicians should not withhold the information from public as it's public right to know what their leaders are doing are how their character is. Politicians should not withhold the information until and unless it's not the matter of their personal security or nation security.
