The pie charts compare men and women in terms of social media use in Australia during the period of 3 years, which began in 2011.
Overall, it is clear that in 2011, the highest proportion was from never type in men and once a week type in women. However, it was 2014 that both genders experienced the highest percentage of social media use in the everyday group.
According to male gender, in2011, never sector dominated the first place with 44%. However, the next 3 years experienced a significant decrease , accoungting for only 30% at the end of the period. In contrast, starting with only 25% in 2011, the percentage of men using the media every day grew massively to 45%, achieving the first place in 2014. While the proportion of men using social network once a week experienced a slight decline from 12% in 2011 to 9% in 2014, the few times a week section also saw the same trend with the decrease by 3%.
Referring to the female gender, 30% of people spent every day using social media, and this figure continued to rise significantly during the next 3 years. Like wise, the never use group which accounted for 8% in 2011 also surged to 22% in 2014. In contrast, both the once a week type and few times a week sector witnessed a significant decline in the proportion of time spent on social media, by 29% and 13% respectively.
