The bar graph compares the level of urbanisation of the world's population living in five parts of the world in 1950, 2007 and projections for the future in 2030.
Overall, it is noticeable that the proportion of people living in the urban areas had an upward trend and it will keep the same tendency until the end of the recorded period.
In terms of details, the percentage of people living in the cities witnessed an enormous growth from initial of 29% in 1950 to eventual of almost a half in 2007, and it is presumed to soar until 2030, hitting 60 per cent. Only 15% of African citizens lived in the urban areas in the first year of the period, while in 2030 well over a half of the Africans will represent cities. Quiet similar figures has Asia surging from just 17% to seemingly 54% between 1950 and 2030, respectively.
According to the data of Europe, the percentage of its population living in urban locations rose remarkably by a fifth from 50 to 72 per cent, correspondingly, whereas it will increase gently to 78% in the last year of the period. There was a gradual increase in the numbers of North America's population from 64% to 79% between first to years, and eventually it will assumingly level off in 2030 at the highest of 87 percent. Moreover, Latin America and Caribbean will double the proportion of citizens living in the urban areas by 2030, in comparison with the year 1950, from 42% to 84%.
