The bar chart below shows the minutes per day spent by different age groups in the United Kingdom on three media.
The given graph indicates the average time (in minutes) consumed daily in Great Britain on three selected categories, namely television, computer and radio in two consecutive years (2009-2010).
It is obvious that except for those among 16-24, other age groups spent the majority of their time on television; additionally, as people get older, they tended to stick to television and radio rather than computer.
Concerning television and radio, the time consumed on these two means of communication underwent an upward trend in consistency with the age of users. For example, the daily time range spent on TV marginally increased for people aged 16-54, followed by an intense upsurge to approximately 4 hours for 55 plus. In terms of radio users, there was a rise of 30 minutes on media facilitators between each age group (16-24, 25-44 and 45-54), and after people reached 55, the amount of time spent on this figure experienced a noticeable decline to 1 hours as similar to that of the 25-44 group.
Computer usage showed the opposite trend as compared to the abovementioned categories. The most popular PC consumption was to be found in young generation with the recorded statistics of 3.30 hours per day. From 25 to over 55, people showed less preference in computer utilization with a rather steady decrease over the given period until nosediving to only 1 hour on a daily basis.
