The bar chart below shows shares of expenditures for five major categories in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Japan in the year 2009
The Bar chart compares the percentages of consumer spending on five various categories namely food, housing, transportation, healthcare and clothing. The trends here are from 4 countries that are the United states, Canada, United kingdom and Japan in year 2009.
In 2009, percentage of shares of money spent on housing was the highest in the USA at 26%, followed by the British at 24%. Canada and Japan were almost the same at 21% and 22% respectively. As opposed to this,23% of Japanese citizens spent money on food, with United kingdom just below that at 20%, Canada at 14% and lastly USA at 13%. In transportation sector, USA and Canada recorded high percentage of purchases at 17% and 20% respectively.
The least expensive categories were Healthcare and Clothing. In healthcare USA was leading at around 7% and United Kingdom the least with 2% only. Canada and Japan were in between this range at 4%.Clothing saw almost same expenditure in all 4 countries with USA and Japan dipping below 5% while Canada and UK in the range of 5% to 6% expenditure.
Overall ,from the bar graph we can deduce that most expenditure is done on food, housing and transportation whereas least on healthcare and clothing. Moreover, amongst the 4 countries maximum spendings are on housing sector and least are on healthcare sector.
