Bar chart: owning and renting accommodation
The bar graph illustrates the proportion of families having their own house and renting accommodation in two specific countries, namely England and Wales from 1918 to 2011. Overall, the former data experienced an upward tendency while the latter witnessed an opposite trend.
Regarding the percentage of households owning houses, starting at only more than 20% in 1918, it increased significantly to reach a peak of nearly 70% in 2001 prior to declining slightly for the next ten years (in 2011) of almost 5%.
Turning to the percentage of households in rented accommodation, it showed a reverse tendency. Beginning approximately at 80% in 1918, the figure fell remarkably to 30% in 2001. During the next ten years course (from 2001 to 2011), it rose minimally to almost 40%.
In summary, it seemed that the number of people in England and Wales from the year of 1991 to 2011 tended to own more house later on rather than renting one.
