Overall, throughout the years all kinds of digital games except for console games experienced an upward trend. Handheld games consistently contributed the most to the sales throughout the period.
As can be seen in the chart, in 2000 the sales figure for handheld games was around 11 billion dollars and kept increasing to reach its peak at about 17 billion dollars in 2006. mobile phone games were the second most popular from 2000 to 2004 but this figure continued to drop to its lowest (around 5 billion dollars) in 2006.
Mobile phone games and online games both have similar growth. Online games replaced console games as the second most popular digital in both years 2005 and 2006.
