The chart and graph below give information about participants who have entered the Olympics since it began.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The two chart provides the data about the sports persons who has participated in Olympics from the year it has begun. The bar chart illustrates the number of men and women participant’s data, whereas line graph shows the total number of participants.
From the bar chart, it is clearly visible that men participants are substantially higher than that of women participants in every Olympics since it has started. However, there is sharp rise in women participants in recent year which is almost equivalent to number of men Olympic participants.
It is evident from the both charts, that men Olympic participants are grown in number gradually from about 3000 in 1924 (which is almost 95% of total participants) to almost 6000 in 2012 (50% of total participants), which is in 2012 Olympic games.
Meanwhile, women participants were almost nil in 1924 Olympics. But there was a slight increase in next two Olympics. While, between 1984 and 2012 Olympics, there is a dramatic rise in female athletes from almost 1500 (which is approximately 25% of total participants) to somewhere near 4900 number of participants (which is almost near to 50% of total participants).
