The chart gives us information about rate changes in three types of crime in Newport between 2003 and 2012. Two of these crimes hadn't change much during this time span while the remaining one showed a sharp decrease.
Robbery rates had its slight up and downs during the years, but, stayed the same in total with around 750 incidents. Newport had less than 3000 car theft from 2003 to 2005. The number of car theft incidents reduce to 2000 in 2006 and went up moderately afterwards and reached its peak in 2012 with near 3250 car theft incidents. Burglary was the most happened crime in Newport until 2006. It reached its prime in 2004. Since then the numbers dropped steeply to less than 1500 incidents in 2008, rose to 1500 in 2009 and almost stayed the same from that year forward.
It is evident that the least occurred crime was robbery through this period and the highest incident rates after 2006 belonged to car theft.
