The chart below shows the different levels of post-school qualifications in Australia and the proportion of men and women who held them in 1999.

The chart gives information about post-school qualifications in Australia and shows both men and women who had them in percentage terms in 1999.

The skilled vocational diploma was the most taken diploma by men with approximately 95%, however, it was the least taken by women among the other diplomas given in the chart with less than 15%. In contrast, a significant percentage of women had an undergraduate diploma even though it was the lowest percentage number for men.

The percentage for the bachelor’s degree was 55% and 45% for men and women respectively. Even though the postgraduate diploma taken by men was a bit over 30%, it was 70% for women. 40% of men took a master’s degree while the number for women was 60% who took it.

The overall picture is that the qualifications of both women and men were quite different in terms of the percentages. Moreover, some qualifications were taken the most by women meanwhile it was the least taken by men which shows how different the percentages were.
