In general, it can be seen that Great Britain that the only country which showed a steady growth with the number of imprisonment from 1930 to 1980. The remaining four countries manifested fluctuations every decades.
First of all, the amount of prisoners in Great Britain was the lowest among other countries which consisted of around 30 people in year 1930. While, the convicts in Great Britain increased rapidly until more than 80 in 1980. On the other hand, there were about 70 people in the Australia’s jail in 1930 and declined moderately until 1950. Then, the number in prison rose slightly to around 70 people in 1970 which had same amount with Great Britain and New Zealand. In 1980, the total people in the prison were about 50 people who were the fewest number of detainees at the time. New Zealand and United State had same total of prisoners as many as 100 persons. The convicts in New Zealand decreased significantly to around 50 in year 1950 and climbed moderately until 1980. The total people who were jailed in United State high enough, showed by the amount were more than 80 prisoners annually between 1930 and 1980. The In Australia’s convicts from 1930 to 1980 oscillated with the biggest number was 120 in 1930.
