A glance at the given bar graph reveals a number of striking differences on how many people were living in an own house and a rented home in the countries, England and Wales from 1918 to 2011. The horizontal axis depicts various years from 1918 to 2011 whereas vertical axis presents percentage of households.

At the first glimpse, it is quite obvious that the proportion of rented households slashed considerably over the time, while the number of owned households increased significantly.
One particularly interesting fact to note is the number of rented accommodation decreased over the time. During the starting year, the number of households which were rented were at the highest of 78 percent approximately. However, this figure decreased dramatically, where only 36 percent of households were rented in 2011.
With regards to own accommodation, the number of own houses saw a rise over the years. Starting from almost 22 percent in 1918, the number of own household accommodation increased dramatically upto 70 percent. But in the next decade, there was a slight decrease of just 3 percent in the number of own houses.
