Generally speaking, it could be observed that, from 1918 to 2011, the data of households which owning accommodation emerged as upward trends whereas the households which renting accommodation emerged as downward trends.
To begin with, in 1918, the number of households rented accommodation stood at 77% the fell to 68% in 1939 subsequently the number of renting accommodation remained constant in the 14 following years. Afterward, in the next 48 years, it plunged to about 31% in 2001 even though it rose again at 36% in the end of the year.
On the other hand, households in England and Wales which owning accommodation stood about 23% in 1918. This number rose in 1939 about 32%but remained constant in the next 4 years. After that, the number of owning accommodation increased gradually till 2001 which peaked about 69% though this number dropped again in 2011 about 64%.
