The chart below shows the percentage of men and women who did various free-time activities in England in 2006.

The given bar chart illustrates the figures for males and females doing different leisure activities measured in England in the year 2006.

It can clearly be seen that watching television reached the highest point in both genders in England in 2006.

Looking at the information in more detail, the percentage of men was higher than the percentage of women including doing sport or exercise, reading, using the internet and playing computer games. To specify, the proportion of males using the internet was nearly 75%, which was almost twice as high as that of females (about 37%). In addition, playing computer games was also a leisure activity having the percentage twice as much as that of women (approximately 10% and 5%, respectively). Also, doing sport or exercise and reading had a fairly equal figure for men, which was around 75% while those for women were not far behind (roughly 70% in both activities).

Nevertheless, men outnumbered women by percentage when it comes to the rest of the categories. The most striking point is that the percentage of female population shopping totally dominated that in male residents (almost 75% and 30%, correspondingly). In contrast, a similar proportion of watching TV and spending time with friends was recorded between males and females, at about 80%-85% in both activities of both groups.
