The line graph provides a breakdown on the number of three different sorts of crime in England and Wales over the period from 1970 to 2005.

One of the first things to note is that from 1970 to 1990, there was approximately no street robbery in England and Wales. After 1990, this figure increased marginally and levelled off at 0.2 million till 2005.

According to the diagram, the figure for car theft in these countries stood at 0.4 million in 1970, which was twice as much as the amount of house burglary in this year. After this year, the figure increased considerably in 1980. Then, it climbed slightly to 1 million in 1980. Subsequently, it grew sharply and hit a peak at 1.6 million in 2995. After that, it decreased moderately and finished at 1 million in 2005.

As can be seen from the diagram, similar to the figure for car theft, the number of house burglary went up gradually until 1980. After that, it reached a plateau for five years at 0.6 million until 1985. Then, there was a minimal increase to 2005 in the amount of house burglary. Finally, this figure declined gradually to over 0.4 million in 2005.
