The chart below shows the total number of minutes (in billions) of telephone calls in the UK, divided into 3 categories, from 1995 to 2002.

The bar graph illustrates the amount of time spent on telephone calls, in terms of billions of minutes, in three categories, that include locals calls (fixed line), national and international calls (fixed line) and mobile calls (all types), from 1995 to 2002.

Overall, the number of minutes spent on local calls (fixed type) remained constant whereas national and international calls and also mobile calls rose considerably by the end of time period. However, at the end, the locals calls still remained on top, followed by national and international calls while mobile took last place.

Local calls, in 1995, recorded over 70 billion minutes which gradually rose to 90 billion minutes (highest ever) n 1999. After that, we see a downwards trend, reaching the same value as initially recorded in 1995.

On the other hand, both mobile as well as national and international calls saw significant rise in their popularity. In 1995, less than 40 billion minutes were logged for national and international calls as compared to more than 60 billion in 2002. Moreover, only about 3 billion minutes were logged for mobile use initially, that gradually rose to about 10 billion in 1999 and then rocketed to beyond 45 billion in just 3 years, in 2002.
