The chart below shows what UK graduate and postgraduate students who did not go into full-time work did after leaving college in 2008.

The bar graphs depict the number of students in the UK with an undergrad or a postgraduation degree and their preference of work after they left college, in 2008.

In general, what stands out is that the figures of those who opted for further education were the highest in both the categories. However, whereas the number of students choosing voluntary work remained the least, those for unemployment were quite the same in proportion.

Focusing on graduate students, the data reports for the highest preference for higher studies at 29,665 students, while only a tenth of this 3,500 went up for voluntary work. Moreover, there was a marginal difference in the number of pupils working in part-time jobs and those been unemployed, 17,735 and 16,235 respectively.

On the other hand, with regards to postgraduates, there was a slight difference in data accounting for students selecting future education with 2,725 and 2,535 who selected odd jobs. In addition, one interesting factor is the least popular field of employment remained voluntary jobs with only 345 students. Meanwhile, 1625 postgrad's were unemployed.
