The table illustrates the trends in UK citizens’ travel aims from 1994 to 1998, along with the bar chart providing data on their preferred routes during the same period.

Overall, the number travelers had generally increased, especially in those going for their holidays. It is also noticeable that British residents favored western European countries to any other, and their number was rising across the timescale all these years, except in 1995.

As for the purpose, holidays were by far the most popular reason, which attracted over 15,000 in 1994 compared to nearly 20,000 in 1998. On the second spot was business that demonstrated a steady growth, reaching almost 4,000 trips. British people started visiting their friends and kin more often over the observation period, beginning with the lowest number 2,689 and ending at 3,181. By contrast, travelling by other reason was never more than 1,054 (in 1997).

Regarding the destination, an increasing number of households chose Western Europe, and the figures ranged between nearly 18,000 and over 24,000. The shares of North America and other areas were significantly less and made up approximately 2,000 visits each, but there was a slight increase in the number of tourists
