The given bar chart illustrates the proportion of Australian small, medium and large enterprises engaging in social media usage for commercial purposes over the course of 5 years, from 2012 to 2016.

Overall, large companies had the tendency to employ social networks the most as their rate stayed consistently above 50% during the given time frame. Another observable trend would be the unceasing rise of social media utilization among all subjects of study, with a minor setback of the year 2015 when such figures of the 3 groups simultaneously took a dive.

In 2012, large corporations utilized the most out of social networking sites, at a staggering 80% while only around 30% of small and medium companies used social media to achieve their economic goals. In the next 2 years, however, small and medium firms witnessed a growth of approximately 8% and 17% respectively in media usage whereas such figure of large corporations, in contrast, displayed a marginal decrease of 3%.

In 2015, a collective and significant decline could be observed in the rate of exploiting social media among 3 types of company as the rates for small and medium businesses dropped to 30% while that of large firms hit its bottom at roughly 54%. This trend didn’t last long, however, for these figures quickly bounced back to almost 50% for small firms, 55% for medium firms and 80% for large firms in 2016.
