The charts below give information about the electricity generation in two countries in 2009.
The four pie charts illustrate the proportion of three different types of produced electricity in Germany and France in 2009.
Overall, Germany generated more electricity than France in 2009. The most produced kind was conventional thermal electricity, whereas renewables the least. On the opposite hand, the majority of generated energy in France was nuclear. Most of the renewables comprised of biomass and wind in Germany, meanwhile hydroelectricity in France.
In regard of German electricity generation, they produced almost 60% of conventional thermal energy, leaving renewables and nuclear power sources at 17.4% and 23.0%, respectively. The renewables comprised of two large energy sources, biomass and wind, both at just below 40%. Solar energy accounted for the smallest amount in renewable energy at approximately 6%.
As for the energy of France, nuclear power accounted for about three quarters of all types of energy in 2009, but the produced renewable and conventional energy were just over 10% each. Turning to renewables, hydroelectricity was the biggest power source at 80.5% whereas other kinds of produced renewables accounted for merely 10%.
