The first chart displays the number of people who got married decreased slightly from 2.5 million to 2 million between 1970 and 2000. Although the divorced adult has an equal number in 1970 and 2000, 1 million, a slight increment in divorce rate can be observed in 1980 which fall back in 1990.
The second graph shows that the percentage of married people ranks first in 1970 and 2000 by 70% and 59%, respectively. In contrast, the widowed by 5% in 1970 and the divorced people by 8% in 2000 has the lowest proportion.
