The first chart shows the rate of marriage and divorce and from 1970 to 2000. Meanwhile, the second chart illustrates The American martial status in four groups, including never married, married, widowed, and divorced.
From the overall perspective, the first chart outlines marriage rate is always higher than divorce during this 30 years. The second chart confirms this data and shows that married people have the highest percentage compared to the other groups.
The first chart displays the number of people who got married decreased slightly from 2.5 million to 2 million between 1970 and 2000. Although the divorced adult has an equal number in 1970 and 2000, 1 million, a slight increment in divorce rate can be observed in 1980 which fall back in 1990.
The second graph shows that the percentage of married people ranks first in 1970 and 2000 by 70% and 59%, respectively. In contrast, the widowed by 5% in 1970 and the divorced people by 8% in 2000 has the lowest proportion. The chart displays that the single person percentage increase from 14% to 20% over the 30 years.
