In 1997, the average number of beds used in China was 70, increasing slowly from just below 80 in 1998 to about 90 in 2005, and finishing at above 90 in 2006. Meanwhile, on average, 60 beds were utilized in ukrainian hospitals in 1997, and it saw a minimal growth from 60 to 65 in the period of 1998 to 2002, and then levelled off at around 70 in the next following three years. In contrast, the lowest average number of bed used was in french hospitals, in which it stood at 40 in the first year, climbing to about 67 in 2005 before stepping down to about 47 in 2006.
