The charts below show the average percentages in typical meals of three types of nutrients, all of which may be unhealthy if eaten too much. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The charts illustrate data about the shares of different kinds of nutrients in typical meals in the USA, and excessive consumption of them may exert negative impacts on our health.

Overall, sodium ranked first in two of the meals, namely dinner and lunch; while the highest contribution in snacks and breakfast is recorded in added sugar. Another striking feature is that dinner is the meal with the highest amount of those unhealthy substances.

In terms of breakfast, the disparity between the three proportions of sodium, saturated fat and added sugar is marginal, as they account for 14, 16 and 16 percent, respectively. While the first two see an increasing percentage in lunch, both at over a quarter, the latter is only a little bit higher, by 3 percent.

Regarding dinner, the majority of sodium is added to this meal, at over four-tenths. The figure for saturated fat is moderately lower, at 37 percent, while that of added sugar is just under a quarter. If we look into snacks, the amount of sodium added is the same as that of breakfast, and the percentage of fat is higher by a narrow margin (21 percent). Nearly half of the sugar is added into snacks, which is quite unhealthy.
