The visuals reveal the breakdown of data upon the proportion of workers in three different sectors, including Manufacturing, Sales and Services, the survey was conducted in town A and B in the year 1960 and 2010.
Overall, over the period of 50 years, town A, from the economy of balanced sectors, shifted towards the economy of service, while in town B, although Manufacturing is still the key industry , it is Services that become more instrumental in the economy.
In 1960, the vast majority of people in town A worked in the Manufacturing sector, with figures topping the list with 41%. Moreover, the percentage of workers in Sales and Services shared relatively comparable values, with figures evening out around 29% of total respondents. By 2010, the values for Services doubled to reach 64%, far exceeding that of Sales and Manufacturing, with respective figures being 16% and 20%.
In 1960, Manufacturing attracted the greatest number of workers in town B, indicated by a sizable figure of 70%, while there was a wide disparity between Sales and Service, which was 20% and 10% in that order. In the next 50 years, approximately 53% of laborers in town B were employed in Manufacturing, nearly troubling the figure of Services, which was around 25%. The least significant figures belonged to Sales with roughly 22% of total employees participating in this sector.
