The given piece charts give information on the proportion of the on food, the average family spent on meals eaten in restaurants and meals cooked at home meanwhile the given line graph depicts the number of meals taken in fast-food restaurants and eat-in restaurants between1970 2000.

Overall, it can be seen that the budget for the home-cooked meal was higher than that restaurant meals, however, there was a continuous decline over the given period. On the other hand, more people went for fast food meals than sit-down meals in the same given time frame.

According to the pie charts, an average household will budget a greater portion (90%) of their income on home-cooking meals in 1970 but this gradually reduced to about 85% in 1980 and by 1990, about a third of their income is budgeted for restaurants meals which now increased to 50% by the year 2000.

On the other hand, the line graph showed that the number of meals purchased as take-away meals increased drastically, over the given period with a start of 20 meals per year in 1970 to about 85 meals per year in the 30 year period. Similarly, the number of eat- in meals in the restaurants rose slightly from 20 meals per year in 1970 to half as much as the number of take-away meals in the year 2000.
