The diagram gives information about the generating process of electricity in a hydroelectric power plant.
Overall, this procedure consists of four major steps, beginning from the water stored in a high-level reservoir and ending with the electricity transported to the national grid through power lines.
It can be seen from the graph that the water of a river is first stopped by a huge dam, resulting in a high-level reservoir. There is an intake at the bottom of the reservoir, which opens in the daytime and closes at night. Afterward, the water flows down to the power station situated on the downstream to generate electricity during the day. In the next step, water that flows into the power plant drives the reversible turbines of the generator, which produces power and transports it to the national grid through power lines. Finally, the water running through the turbines during the day is stored in a low-level reservoir, while it is pumped back into the high-level reservoir at night, through the same pipeline. This cycle continues every day and night.
