The diagram illustrates the process of water circulation on the earth.

Overall, the whole process is a cycle that composes two main stages, beginning with water evaporation and finishing with flows of underground water streams rejoining the ocean.

Looking at the first process, water from sources such as the ocean, seas, or lakes evaporates into the atmosphere, where they are then condensed owing to the freezing temperature at a certain height. The condensation stage subsequently forms masses of clouds that float around the skies and move to lands or high lands by the direction of winds, pouring down rainfalls on various locations.

Regarding the second stage, rainwater resulting from downpours ordinarily form spontaneous waterholes or even a small lake in case of torrential rainfall. On the other hand, rainwater dropped on top of mountains forming water run-offs side by side with a considerable amount permeating through the land surface will afterward create underground water streams, which eventually lead back to the seas. At this point, a cycle has been finished, and a new one will begin.
