The given diagram depicts how Queen Mary hospital has been rebuilt during the period between 1960 and 2000.
To begin with, in 1960, there was only a main hospital located close to the main road and a shopping centre. Also, a car park was situated behind the main building.
20 years later, the shopping centre was replaced by a cancer one. Moreover, it is obvious that the main hospital building was broadened and then divided into 2 separate areas : pharmacy and hospital. In addition, the farmland, which had been on the right of the car park, was spent on establishing a new nursing school.
After that, in 2000, the nursing school was narrowed in order to meet the demand of expanding the cancer centre. More exactly, a half of the car park was taken for the advantage of relocating the nursing school.
In conclusion, compared to 1960, it is clear that the hospital area was increased in size due to the establishment of pharmacy. Additionally, both shopping center and farmland were demolished to construct cancer center. Also, car park was diminished by a half because of a new nursing school.
