The graph and table below give information about water use worldwide and water consumption in two different countries. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The graph illustrates the changes in water consumption worldwide from 1900 to 2000.

Throughout the century, the largest quantity of water used was in agriculture, starting from 500 km3 and this dramatically rose to 3000 km3 at the end of the period. Similarly, industrial use and domestic use of water underwent some slight increases. Both figures were minimal and didn't grow steadily until 1950. But even in 2000, industrial use of water only reached 1000 km3 and 500 km3 for domestic, far lower than that of agriculture.

The table shows how water was used in the two countries, Brazil and Congo, in 2000. There is a huge gap between the amount of irrigated land in Brazil (26500 km2) and the other one (100 km2). This means that water demand in the former country is much higher, and another illustration for this is the water consumption per person. While each individual in Congo only used 8 m3 of water, compared with 359 m3 in Brazil. As a result, it is apparent that the quantity of water used there in 2000 was quite tremendous.
