The line graph compares the proportion of urban population in four countries namely the USA, Korea, China, and India from 1970 to 2030.
Overall, the percentage of population living in cities increases in each country between 1970 and 2030. The USA is predicted to see the largest percentage of urban population in all periods shown.
In 1970, 70% American population lived in cities, while the figures for Korea, China and India were much lower, at 40%, about 21%, and 20% respectively. From 1970 to 2010, the USA and India saw a slight rise in the percentage of urban population, a rise of under 20% in 50 years, compared to a sharp increase of over 40% in Korea and China.
Until the year 2030, the proportion of the population in cities in the USA is expected to rise to 90%. Similarly, the figures for Korea, China and India will go up to nearly 90%, 65%, and 38% respectively.
